Coalition For Kids recently received a large donation from Mountain Commerce Bank (MCB). In September 2007, MCB pledged a gift of $5,000 and on Thursday, December 13, 2007, presented Coalition For Kids with a check for that dollar amount. A group of 30 to 40 people gathered at “The Rock” for the presentation, at 2308 Watauga Road, Johnson City.

“One reason our region is so strong is because of organizations like MCB. When a new company makes a commitment to the community through their service as well as their giving back, we are assured to have grown stronger with them being here. I am thankful to have MCB as a partner as we fight for the welfare of our children in this community.” - Randy Hensley, CFK Executive Director.

Coalition for Kids was chosen by MCB due to the valuable services they provide to the community and partially due to the currently-existing MCB employee involvement. MCB’s Bobby Brown, Director of Operations, and Jamie Goodsell, Director of Loan Operations, both sit on the Coalition For Kids Board of Directors and are actively involved in its initiatives. “MCB is proud to support nonprofit organizations like the Coalition for Kids that continue to make a difference for the children in our community,” said Bill Edwards, President and CEO of MCB. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Coalition in the upcoming years.”

If you would like to make a monetary or in-kind donation to Coalition For Kids or for more information about programs offered, contact Randy Hensley, Executive Director at 434-2031. If you would like to volunteer your time or resources, contact Rachel Jaynes, Volunteer Coordinator, at 434-2031 (rachel@coalitionforkids.org).

About Coalition for Kids, Inc

The Coalition for Kids is a Christ-Centered joint venture of various religious, civic, governmental, business, industrial and private organizations and individuals working together to provide an infrastructure for the development and operation of various programs for the children and other families.

Coalition for Kids began in 1998 as a grassroots effort planted within one of the lowest income and highest crime areas of Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior to 1999, no community activity center or after school education opportunities existed. Through a vision of area Christian business leaders and concerned citizens, Coalition for Kids was born.
